Ingredients
  

For the Batter:

  • 2 large eggs
  • ¾ cup whole milk or heavy cream
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • Zest of 1 orange (plus extra for garnish)
  • 1 pinch of salt

For the French Toast:

  • 4 round croissants (preferably a day old), sliced in half
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter (for cooking)

Optional Garnishes:

  • 1 cup mixed fresh berries (strawberries, blueberries, blackberries)
  • ½ cup whipped cream or crème fraîche
  • Maple syrup, for drizzling
  • Additional orange zest

Instructions
 

  • Prepare the Batter: In a shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, milk (or cream), sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, orange zest, and salt until smooth.
  • Slice & Soak the Croissants: Slice croissants in half horizontally. Dip each half into the egg mixture for 15–20 seconds per side, making sure they’re coated but not soggy.
  • Cook the French Toast: Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat. Melt 1 tbsp butter, then place croissants cut side down. Cook 2–3 minutes per side until golden and crisp. Add more butter for the remaining croissants.
  • Assemble & Garnish: Place two croissant halves on each plate. Top with maple syrup, whipped cream or crème fraîche, extra orange zest, and berries if using.
