You can’t go wrong with a good burger recipe, in my opinion. The classic combination of meat and cheese is something you just can’t beat, especially when that combo includes sauteed mushrooms and swiss cheese all wrapped up nicely in this Mushroom Swiss Burger!
This delicious mushroom swiss burger recipe is one of those flavorful hamburger recipes that you’ll want to make over and over again.
There really is no mystery to making a great burger. Use the best quality meat you can afford, round it into a nice-sized hamburger patty, and throw it on a smoking grill. And when you add a handful of delicious toppings, you have one of the best summer dinner ideas!
While there are a ton of different burger variations you can choose from, I love the combination of mushrooms and swiss. And when you top the burger with a flavorful mayonnaise, you have one delicious sandwich!
What You’ll Need to Make This Mushroom Swiss Burger Recipe:
- 1 pound ground beef
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ÂĽ teaspoon pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce or liquid smoke
Once you have your burger patties prepared, you’ll also need a handful of ingredients to make the delicious toppings to dress up your hamburgers. To finish your mushroom swiss burgers, you’ll also need:
- 1 tablespoon olive
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 2 cups sliced baby bella mushrooms
- ½ teaspoon salt
- Splash of white wine
- 2 teaspoons fresh thyme
- 3 cloves garlic
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 4 slices baby swiss cheese
- 4 hamburger buns
How to Make:
Step One:
- To make the hamburgers, start by preparing the grill. Clean and grease the grill grates, then preheat the grill.
- Combine the ground beef, salt, pepper, garlic powder and Worcestershire sauce in a large bowl. Use your hands to work the ingredients together until they’re well combined.
- Form four patties that are around ½-inch thick and place the burgers on the hot grill.
- Grill for five minutes on each side, then place a slice of swiss cheese on top and let it melt.
Step Two:
- Make the mushrooms by heating the olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium high heat. When the butter is melted, add the mushrooms. Season the mushrooms with salt and sweat them until they are softened.
- Add a splash of white wine to the pan and sprinkle the thyme leaves over the top. Saute the ingredients for another minute, then remove the pan from heat and set it aside until the burgers are finished cooking.
Step Three:
- Prepare the garlic mayo by whisking together the mayonnaise and crushed garlic. When the mayo is mixed, place it in the refrigerator until you’re ready to assemble your mushroom burgers.
Step Four:
- Assemble the hamburgers by placing one grilled hamburger on each bun. Spread the garlic may over the top bun, the spoon a heaping scoop of mushrooms on the top of each burger. Place the bun on top of the mushrooms and enjoy.
Mushroom Burger Tips and Tricks
Thanks to the simplicity of this recipe, you can prepare your own mushroom swiss burgers at home in no time. Follow these quick and easy tips to ensure your burgers come out delicious every time you make them.
- Substitute water or stock for white wine. If you don’t have any white wine on hand to make this recipe, there’s no need to open a new bottle. Simply substitute the wine with the same amount of vegetable stock or water.
- Use a burger press for even patties. You can use your hands to form your burger patties for grilling, but that method makes it difficult to get even burger patties. A burger press is a great way to ensure all your burgers are uniform.
- Use plain mayo. While the garlic mayo in this recipe adds a kick of flavor to your burger, you can substitute plain mayonnaise instead if you’re not a garlic fan. You can even leave the mayonnaise off your mushroom swiss burger completely if you want!
How Do You Grill the Perfect Burger?
Making a delicious grilled burger isn’t all that complicated! But there are a few steps you can take to ensure you grill the perfect burger every time you fire up the grill.
- Pick the right kind of meat. High quality meat provides you with the best flavor, so the key to grilling a great burger is great meat. Ground chuck is a popular choice for making burgers, with ground sirloin being another good option.
- Grease the grill grates. You don’t want your burgers to stick while they cook! Make sure to grease the grill grates with oil or brush oil over your burger before placing them on the grill to keep them from sticking.
- Keep your burger moist with an ice cube. Grilling a burger can sometimes cause the meat to dry out. To keep from getting dry burgers, try placing an ice cube on top of the burger. As the burger cooks, the ice will melt, keeping the meat juicy, and giving you a delicious mushroom swiss burger to enjoy!
Don’t overcook. Cooking the meat for just a few minutes on each side is the best option for ensuring you don’t overcook your hamburgers, which will dry them out. Stick to cooking each side of the burger for around five minutes for best results.
