If you are like me, then having a few jars of homemade jams, jellies and pickled goodies are a highlight when you open that pantry door.

Creating your own spice blends are a great way to give your recipes a nice bit of personal flair and get things done your way. Want some kickin’ heat, add in some crushed chili flakes, or make it slightly sweet with a bit of sugar.

I love this simple yet punchy flavored Pickling Spice blend!

I’m a dill pickle kind of girl and have put together my own pickling spice blend that I think makes my dill pickles extra tasty. You can also use this pickling spice blend to pickle onions, okra, and just about any veggie that you want to preserve.

The best time to preserve your favorite veg of the season is when they are at their peak. Not only will they taste their best, but they will typically be priced at their lowest. So let’s get preserving and stock up on some pickled goodness.
