The alarm goes off and I want to ignore it! I manage though to plant my feet on the floor and make my way into the kitchen.
First things first …. give me some ENERGY!
I have a bowl of Honey Bunches of Oats Morning Energy because my eyes are slightly drawn to the rather large spelling of ENERGY on the box in hopes that it’s the real deal. I continue on with my morning rituals and by the time I’m out the door, I’m feeling so ready to greet the day with a smile and a bit of a hello. To my delight, I have a bit of oomph going for me, and I know that I made the right decision to kick start my morning.
It’s like this, I’m a mom with three YOUNG children. My time is spent looking after their needs and making sure that their boo boos are kissed. I love every moment of being a mother and there’s nothing like it. But being a mom also means that having enough energy to make it through the day is something that’s hard to come by. For me, I MUST start the day with a proper breakfast, or I’m useless to everyone. For my children, making sure that they start their day with a healthy and wholesome breakfast, means that they don’t ask for as many snacks during the day, will eat better during the rest of the day and they won’t be little grumpy boots by the end of the day.
I try to find ways to feed my family with healthy foods that they will actually eat, and let me say that with young and very picky eaters, I have found a winner in our home with this cereal.
We tried both of the new Honey Bunches of Oats Morning Energy cereal flavors, Chocolatey Almond Crunch and the Cinnamon Crunch. I loved them both, as did my children, but our favorite flavor hands down was, of course, the one with chunks of CHOCOLATE. I was actually surprised that I enjoyed the Chocolatey Almond Crunch as much as I did. Even though I eat copious amounts of chocolate, I do have to approach anything on the sweet side with ease in the mornings. But with the Chocolatey Almond Crunch, it was just the right balance of flavor and not overly sweet. Nice.
It’s full of brilliant, well balanced flavor. Definitely not bland like so many healthy cereals, and thankfully not the sugary sweet with the bouncing off walls and a meltdown within an hour. If you like clusters of cinnamon crunchy clusters lingering in your bowl or chunks of chocolate and slivers of almonds calling you out of bed in the morning, then you should try Honey Bunches of Oats Morning Energy cereals!
Here is what I find reassuring about the Morning Energy cereals – It’s loaded with proteins, whole grains and fiber, that means energy to get you going without starving or dealing with a sugar crash an hour later. It’s honestly a family friendly, wholesome and nutritious jump start to any day.
Here’s the nutritional breakdown for each serving combined with 1/2 cup fat free milk:
- 10g of protein
- 2/3 of your day’s recommended whole grains
- 5g fiber
*It is recommended by nutritionist to eat three or more servings of whole grain foods a day (that adds up to around 16g of whole grains per serving, multiply that by at least three servings and you should try for about 48g in your daily diet).
With life being as busy it is, it’s good to know that there are time saving yet healthy foods options that you can trust, and for me Honey Bunches of Oats Morning Energy is at the top of the list for my family.
I seriously loved the Chocolately Almond Crunch the most, but I wouldn’t turn down a bowl of the Cinnamon Crunch. So tell me, because I’m curious, which of the two flavors do you think you would enjoy trying the most and why? *I’m rooting for any comments with chocolate, but no pressure.* Whichever appeals to you the most, I know you will enjoy!
