Refreshing, thirst quencher for those hot days ….
Brazilian Lemonade!
Okay, so it’s not made with lemons but with limes! I know, why would you call a drink made with limes, “lemonade”? Good question. It is because in their language, Portuguese, the word used for both lemons and limes are the same, limão, and the way they distinguish between the two is by adding a few descriptives, like the color or their variety. Limes are also less expensive and more readily available in Brazil. So … hopefully that helps a bit to explain the name of this brilliant tasting drink. {Moving on quickly}
My children seriously love this drink and I have to say, I’m a bit of a fan too. Think of this drink as posh version of (lemon) lemonade.
Dagnabit, it has sweetened condensed milk in it! Do I really have to convince you to try it?
It takes minimal ingredients, a blender and about 5 minutes. Done. I like love obsess over sweetened condensed milk a bit. My mom used to keep a can of it in the fridge and eat a spoon or two a day of it, then she handed me a spoon, and there was no going back after that. Although I don’t always keep an open can of sweetened condensed milk in the fridge, for obvious temptation reasons, you just might find one in there once in a while. And if you’re building out a spread of refreshing drinks, my sweet iced tea is always on that list too. 😉
Brazilian lemonade is perfect for those hot days, and if you want to take it up a notch then try throwing in a small handful of strawberries or blackberries for a fruity twist.
